Here at Pata Negra we are on a sherry mission. We love the stuff and we want you to love it as much as we do, and as much as it deserves. We recently launched our very own Sherry Club where you can come along and learn about a different Sherry each month and bask in all it’s glory, as well as stuffing your face on some of our famous Pata Negra Jamon Iberico.
Hopefully most of you will go off and buy your tickets screaming “Sherry is the best, give it to me now” but if you’re not totally sold we asked our Restaurant Manager, Ben Hunter, to tell you exactly why we should all be drinking delicious sherry….
“Hopefully I can convince you that sherry isn’t just a sweet, weird little liqueur/wine your “old aunty” sipped but, in fact, one of the great treasures of the wine world. To truly appreciate sherry you have to gain some insight into where and how it is made, and for that I suggest you come to our Sherry Club where we’ll guide you through a different Sherry each month, but for now: One, sherry is a truly unique wine from a wonderful corner of Spain that deserves to be better known and understood; Two, sherry comes in many styles and is a wonderfully versatile match to all sorts of difficult dishes (think salty, vinegar, acidic foods) that other wines struggle to compliment; And three, sherry represents great value – imagine rare wines that have been carefully aged for 30 years, and more, that sell for less than you’d pay for a bottle of mass produced, mediocre NV champagne from the supermarket! Do try it with traditional nibbles like almonds, olives and boquerones; do drink it as fresh as you can and do persevere – you will be rewarded!”
Sounds like some solid sherry advice right there! If you liked that and want to delve head first in to the world of Sherry, with the support of some tasty ham, come to our second Sherry Club on the 22nd July. Get your tickets now
